The Not the Western Front Society. The society has been created as a registered charity with the objects of:
To advance the education of the public in the history of world war one, regarding campaigns away from the western front through:
a) providing opportunities for the study into the legacy and lessons of those campaigns and those who fought or served in them;
b) raising awareness of those who fought or served in them and those who gave their lives;
c) research for such purposes;
d) providing information and holding events;
e) such other ways as the trustees may determine.
The people behind the Society have long thought that the various Campaigns away from the Western Front get very little exposure and this is something that we hope to rectify.
The Society intends to publish its journal 3 times a year and will happily accept articles from members and other interested in writing for it. We also do not at this time think we will be printing the journal, we will make it available to people as a pdf, this saves rather a lot on costs.The first subscription year will be up to 18 months with 4 journals. Just to make life simpler. This will work out as one journal in 2025 and then a full run of 3 in 2026
The planned schedule for the Journal is
20th January
20th May
20th September
There will be plenty of opportunity for subscribers\members to have their say about how the society moves forwards and even be proposed as Trustees in the future
Finally we hope in the future to be able to offer some additional benefits such as conferences and possible online talks, but this is a development for 2026.
